Allison's Story
"As a former provider in behavioral healthcare, I thought that when I needed mental health support, it would be easier to navigate and find because I know how the system works. But when I found myself dealing with a severe driving phobia that drastically decreased my independence five years ago, I was in the same position as other people needing mental health assistance."

"I was stuck on several waiting lists, and when I finally started seeing providers, I could tell they were clearly burnt out. After five years of dealing with this phobia and going through five different therapists, I am happy to report that I FINALLY found a therapist that is really helping me regain some of my life back.
This has given me a newfound appreciation for the importance of mental health services, as being able to address this phobia has really improved my quality of life. However, it was also eye-opening to see how hard it was to get access to these essential services in the first place. I believe a large part of that struggle is due to having a lack of mental health care providers in the first place, possibly due to the high stress and burnout that they experience.
I am honored to be employed at Therapy Brands, where I have the privilege to work on products that help make the therapist's job easier so they are less likely to experience burnout. Our software products also help speed up connecting those needing mental health services with the right providers. This makes the onboarding process smoother and quicker so that they can begin therapy in a more timely manner.
So during Mental Health Awareness Month, let's all take the time to thank a mental health care provider for everything they do, as it is an extremely important service they provide to others, including myself."
Robin's Story
"I grew up in a home with an alcoholic father. It was not until later in life that he utilized mental health care for depression and, honestly, multiple failed attempts at sobriety. My youngest brother became dependent on alcohol, and my favorite brother (I have four, so, yes, I have a favorite!) became addicted to pain pills in college. This progressed into a full-blown heroin addiction for many years."

"In 2007, my career lead me to head up onboarding/training/credentialing in a state-funded mental health and substance abuse facility. I spent 13 years working diligently to align staff with the mission and objectives. I reminded staff that the individuals they were serving were brothers, dads, moms, aunts, etc. - making a personal connection for staff with the severely mentally ill and those consumers experiencing extreme substance abuse withdrawals. Often, staff was being physically hurt by clients, not to mention the verbal abuse that was tolerated.
My two brothers were clients at this facility at least once during my tenure. Talk about bringing the personalization of treatment to the forefront!
My favorite brother, Travis, who found himself addicted to heroin, ended up in jail. He was soon accepted into Oklahoma’s drug court program and was moved to the Salvation Army ARC program. From there, he rebuilt his life and has been sober for 10 years. He is now a VP in his organization, and he returns weekly to the Salvation Army to conduct a group on recovery being a reality.
I believe that what the TBH staff does daily changes the trajectory of our customer’s work days. When a platform is efficient, assists in processes, is scalable, and can be configured to the organization's needs, our customers can spend the time they need to spend with their consumers and provide the necessary care."
